When Fashion Meets Fragrance

When Fashion Meets Fragrance

I wanted to write about one of the women who has believed in To The Fairest since the very beginning. Suzannah Crabb is a designer and owner of Suzannah Boutique in London, and we met many years ago while I running a vintage fashion business called Juno Says Hello. We shared a love of clothes, especially mid-century style and its classic silhouettes, and our friendship grew out of this kindred subject.

When I mentioned to Suzannah that I had started developing a new scent (which eventually became Cécile Eau de Parfum) we had a long conversation about the power of scent and how it captures the magic of special occasions. Suzannah is an expert in this area, given that she designs clothes for life’s most memorable events: weddings, award ceremonies and stylish celebrations.

Her clientele includes Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Helen Mirren and Olivia Colman. Chic, elegant and timeless, Suzannah’s dresses are also a popular choice for honours recipients at Buckingham Palace, most recently June Angelides MBE, the tech entrepreneur and investor, and Lisa Armstrong OBE, the Fashion Director of The Telegraph .

My dear friend Lizzie Ostrom – known to many in the fragrance world as Odette Toilette – wore one of Suzannah’s dresses to the launch of her first book, A Century of Scents. It was such a special evening and Lizzie looked magnificent.

Suzannah was one of the first people to write a testimonial for the first scent when it launched and I’m delighted that her London boutique stocks a curated selection from To The Fairest – it means a great deal to have support from other independent businesses.

“Cécile is exquisite. It is light and subtle but sensual. I love the peppery undertones, and how it is feminine and romantic without being powdery or too flowery.  If I would describe the scent in one word it would be ‘chic'”
